Best/Good/Bad/Worst

Last week, I got to witness something special: one of my co-workers had a learning moment. She had added a part to an engine, but forgot to fully tighten it. However, she realized her mistake, and corrected it before she passed the engine onto the next person in the line. At first, I wanted to say that this was the best-case scenario - catching and correcting a mistake so early on. However, it then occurred to me that, really, the best-case scenario would be not making the mistake at all, and that this was more of a good-case scenario.

That got me thinking, what would be the breakdown of scenarios? I've pondered this, and present what I have come up with here.

Best-case scenario: the mistake doesn't happen at all.

Good-case scenario: the mistake is caught early, when it is still easy to correct.

Bad-case scenario: the mistake is caught late, when it is difficult to correct.

Worst-case scenario: the mistake isn't caught at all.
