Idea for a Scary Movie

A while back, I had an idea for a scary movie. (I had intended to post this on Halloween, when it would have been topically appropriate, but I have been distracted with other stuff these last few days. So I'm getting around to it now.)

The main storyline is sort of a cross between "The Strangers" and "Don't Breathe". (Admittedly, I haven't actually seen either of these movies, and only know what I've seen from the trailers.)

We see a small family headed out to a remote house far out in the countryside. They are miles and miles from civilization, and from anyone, really. That evening, as they are settling in, several unexpected guests make their presence known. The family is beset by a group of people intent on tormenting and killing this family, for reasons unknown. (For fun, probably.)

It is here that we learn an important piece of information about this family, and the assailants realize (too late) that they chose the wrong people to f*** with.

As it turns out, the whole happy, normal family thing is one big act. When no one is looking, they are a bunch of bloodthirsty psychopaths, even more so than their would-be killers.

The whole thing rapidly degrades into a gruesome free-for-all game of cat-and-mouse, one where it's not entirely clear who are the cats, and who are the mice.
