Well, it finally happened. I, along with the rest of my family, got smartphones today. Admittedly, my sister already had one (she's had one for a while now), but the rest of us finally got in on it. We had been kicking around the idea of getting a new phone plan for some time now (on and off for a little over a year), and smartphones are becoming increasingly required in today's society. The fact that my...old phone...was literally held together with duct tape (I am not joking or exaggerating when I say that; it really was held together with duct tape) was the breaking point. We were able to get a really good deal on a family plan and new phones, so that was also a motivating factor.
We totally blew the mind of the guy at the phone store. We turned in our old phones for recycling, and he was fascinated by them and how small they were. We got those phones ten or eleven years ago, so by technology standards, they're practically antiques. One of them is a honest-to-goodness flip phone! Mine was falling apart (hence, the duct tape), but still works! Kind of.
He's going to be telling stories about this day for weeks to come.
