Failed Partnerships

Things...are not going well in my Shop class. On one project, I am trying to make a part that will go into an indicator holder. My partner for this project...has proven himself to be unreliable. (Though tempting, I won't be naming any names here.) He is frequently absent, and on the days he does show up, he is frequently late, to an extreme degree. I don't mean ten or twenty minutes late; I mean 2 or more hours late. In short, I've been stuck doing most of the work on this myself, while my other projects fall behind.

Speaking of which, I still have yet to receive the final prints for my injection mold. I had to go up to the Design Department last week just to find out how many ejector pins will be needed. I was told by my partner for that project that he would be working on this over Spring Break, and he would get back to me after classes resumed. Spring Break was more than two weeks ago, I haven't heard from him since (except for last week, when I sought him out).

I'm not sure how to deal with this. The people I am paired up with are unreliable, but it's rather late to be switching partners (assuming, of course, that anyone else would be willing to switch). One of the only things keeping me going is the prospect of giving my indicator-holder partner a lousy grade during our peer evaluation.

But is that really a healthy line of thought? Yes, on some level it is justified, but it also seems petty and passive-aggressive. The idea of, "You screwed me over, so now I'm screwing you over," does not strike me as a productive one. But he said he was going to help more, and if anything, he's been helping less.

As is all too often the case, I'm not sure what to think.
